All working parents are able to off-set a percentage of the cost of employing a Nanny against childcare vouchers which are available from their employer. To do this, they will need to employ a Nanny that is registered with Ofsted.
You can apply on-line at www.ofsted.gov.uk or by calling 08456 404045. Ofsted will then write to you to acknowledge your application and provide you with information on to complete the registration form. To apply you will need to:
The fee paid covers the cost of administration and the processing of a DBS (previoiusly called a CRB) Check. As long as the nanny remains registered with Ofsted their DBS check is automatically updated with any new infomation on the candidate as arises. The DSB check is processed electronically and held by Ofsted.
A non-refundable application fee of £100 is required and this currently includes the cost of obtaining your CRB police check. If the nanny has been requested by a family to become Ofsted registered, the family may be willing to cover all or part of this cost.
The registration process can take up to 12 weeks to be completed. However it is usually closer to 6 weeks on completion your nanny will receive a URN (unique reference number).
To help you calculate the full total cost of employing a Nanny, we have prepared this tax calculator to help you.
Simply enter the net weekly amount and the total gross amount including tax and national insurance will be displayed.
This information is for guideline purposes only. Please note that this is the employer's total cost and not the employee's gross pay, and should not be used in the employee's contract.
