Ofsted Childcare Register

Many parents are now able to off-set the cost of employing a Nanny against childcare vouchers available from their employer. To do this, they will need to employ a Nanny that is registered with Ofsted.

How to Apply for Ofsted Registration

You can apply on-line at www.ofsted.gov.uk or by calling 08456 404045. Ofsted will then write to you to acknowledge your application and provide you with information on how to:

• Obtain an enhanced CRB disclosure

• Obtain a 1st aid qualification, insurance documentation and any other information that Ofsted require to be checked at a Post Office

• Pay the Ofsted application fee (which is non-refundable)

• Provide any further information that Ofsted require to determine your suitability

How much does Ofsted Registration cost?

A non-refundable application fee of £100 is required and this currently includes the cost of obtaining your CRB police check. If the nanny has been requested by a family to become Ofsted registered, the family may be willing to cover all or part of this cost.

How long does it take to register?

The registration process can take up to 12 weeks to be completed. However it is usually closer to 6 weeks.
