What is a Maternity Nurse?

Tigerlily Childcare specialize in providing high quality, experienced Maternity Nurses to families across the UK and overseas.

Tigerlily Maternity Nurses usually work with the mother for 2-8 weeks, immediately after discharge from hospital and on a live-in basis.

In most cases, our Maternity Nurses possess:

  • A recognized maternity qualification e.g. MNT OR Nursery Nurse qualification (CACHE, BTEC or NAMCW) OR Midwife / Registered Nurse qualifications.
  • 5 years experience working with babies that would enable them to support mothers in their own homes and their newborn baby or babies.
  • An up to date  CRB Enhanced Police Check (if you do not possess a CRB we will be happy to obtain one for you – approx cost £56).
  • An up to date Paediatric First-Aid qualification or proof of course attendance.
  • Positive references from recent, relevant employers.
  • Fluent English

We personally interview and work very closely with all of our Maternity Nurses and take great care to place you with the most suitable families. We communicate regularly with all of our Maternity staff, many of which we have successfully placed on a regular basis.

Types of Maternity Work

Maternity Nurses

Tigerlily Maternity Nurses provide families with expert advice and support in areas such as feeding, sleep routines, weight gain patterns, dealing with ailments, and maintaining good hygiene. They also provide full support to the mother, helping them with breast-feeding and giving the mother a chance to rest, rebuild her strength and catch up on sleep. Maternity Nurses often work on a 24 hour 6 day basis.

Multiple Birth Maternity Nurses

These Maternity Nurses specialize in providing help and support to families that have recently enjoyed the birth of twins or triplets. Experience of working with twins / triplets is essential due to the complex support they require.

Maternity Nannies

A Maternity Nanny specialises in caring for newborn babies with older siblings. They are ideal for a parent who needs extra help, or is going back to work and requires sole charge for a small baby and another young child.

Night Nannies

Night nannies are experienced Maternity Nurses providing specialist care throughout the night usually 9pm-6am. The care provided aims to establish a sleeping routine that the mother will be able to continue once the Night Nanny's contract ends.
